How this was calculated

Volume: length x width x (depth/12) in cubic feet, divided by 27 for cubic yards.

Weight: cubic yards x material density (tons per cubic yard). Densities are approximate and vary by moisture.

Truckloads: Based on standard 20-ton dump truck capacity.

Gravel and Fill Material Guide

Common gravel and fill materials vary in density from about 1.1 tons/cubic yard (topsoil) to 1.6 tons/cubic yard (compacted road base). Always add 10-15% for compaction and waste. Material densities depend on moisture content, particle size, and compaction level.

For well pads and access roads, 6-8 inches of compacted road base is typical. Driveway gravel is usually 4-6 inches deep. Landscape beds need 2-3 inches of decorative stone.
