How this works

Piston Effect: Fp = ΔPtbg × Ai - ΔPann × Ao. Direct pressure forces on the packer seal area.

Ballooning: Fb = 2ν × (ΔPtbg × Ai - ΔPann × Ao) / (R²-1), where ν=0.3 (Poisson's), R=OD/ID.

Temperature: FT = E × As × α × ΔT. Thermal expansion generates compressive force if anchored.

Positive force = tension (pulling up on packer). Negative = compression (pushing down).
