Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 4, 2026

What We Collect

Email addresses — only when you voluntarily provide them (e.g., to download a report or subscribe to PRO). We never require an email to use engineering suites.

Page views — we track which tool pages are visited (path and timestamp) for analytics. No personal data is attached to page views.

No tracking cookies — we do not use cookies for tracking. Google Analytics (GA4) may use its own cookies per Google's privacy policy.

Your Data Stays in Your Browser

Most tools run entirely client-side. Your production data, well parameters, and calculation inputs are processed in your browser and never sent to our servers. For tools that require server-side computation (e.g., decline curve fitting), data is processed in memory and immediately discarded — never stored.

How We Use Your Email

  • To send you the report or resource you requested
  • To notify you of new tools (you can unsubscribe anytime)
  • PRO subscribers: to provide engineering support

We never sell, rent, or share your email with third parties.

Third-Party Services

  • Google Analytics (GA4) — anonymous usage analytics
  • Stripe — payment processing for PRO subscriptions (we never see your card number)
  • Railway — hosting infrastructure (US-West)

Data Retention

Email addresses are retained until you request deletion. Page view analytics are retained for 12 months. PRO subscription data is retained as required by tax/accounting regulations.

Your Rights

You can request deletion of your data at any time by emailing info@petropt.com. We will respond within 30 days.

GDPR Rights (EU Residents)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) grants you the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to Rectification — request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Right to Erasure — request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten"), subject to legal retention obligations.
  • Right to Restrict Processing — request that we limit how we use your data in certain circumstances.
  • Right to Data Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format and transmit it to another controller.
  • Right to Object — object to processing based on legitimate interest, including direct marketing.
  • Right to Withdraw Consent — where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time without affecting prior lawful processing.

Lawful basis for processing: We rely on legitimate interest (delivering the report or resource you explicitly requested) and consent (sending marketing communications such as tool update emails). You may withdraw consent at any time.

How to exercise your rights: Email privacy@petropt.com with your request. We will respond within 30 days. We may ask you to verify your identity before processing the request.

Right to lodge a complaint: You have the right to file a complaint with the data protection authority (DPA) in your country of residence or establishment if you believe we have processed your data unlawfully.

International data transfers: Your personal data may be transferred to and processed on servers located in the United States (Railway US-West region). Where required by law, such transfers are protected by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) adopted by the European Commission. You may request a copy of the applicable SCCs by contacting privacy@petropt.com.

CASL Notice (Canadian Residents)

If you are located in Canada, Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) governs how we obtain consent before sending commercial electronic messages (CEMs).

  • Express consent — we obtain express consent when you voluntarily enter your email address to download a report or subscribe to a PRO plan. The consent request clearly describes the type of messages you will receive.
  • Implied consent — where you have an existing business relationship with Groundwork Analytics LLC (e.g., an active or recently lapsed PRO subscription), we may send relevant communications on the basis of implied consent for the period permitted by CASL.
  • Unsubscribe mechanism — every commercial email we send includes a clear, functional unsubscribe link.
  • Unsubscribe processing — all unsubscribe requests are honoured within 10 business days of receipt.

To exercise any CASL rights or to unsubscribe manually, email privacy@petropt.com.
