Understanding Recovery Factor

Recovery factor (RF) is the fraction of original oil in place that can be economically produced. Primary recovery by solution gas drive typically ranges from 5-30%, while waterflooding can increase this to 30-60%. Enhanced oil recovery methods can push recovery to 40-70% depending on reservoir and fluid characteristics.

The volumetric method calculates RF based on displacement efficiency, while the API correlation uses statistical analysis of over 600 solution gas drive reservoirs. Built by Groundwork Analytics.
