Wellbore Heat Loss Calculator

Calculate fluid temperature profile along the wellbore during injection. Uses Ramey's (1962) analytical model for heat transfer between tubing and formation.

Temperature Profile vs Depth

How this works

Ramey's Model (1962): T(z) = Tgeo(z) - gG*A + (Tinj - Tsurf + gG*A) * exp(-z/A)

A (relaxation distance): A = w*cp / (2*pi*rto*U) where w is mass flow rate. Controls how quickly fluid approaches geothermal temperature.

Geothermal: T_formation(z) = T_surface + gG * z

Higher flow rates = larger A = less heat exchange with formation (fluid stays closer to injection temp).
